Does every company have to test its appliances?
Yes. Employers are responsible for the safety of the electrical equipment their staff use – including computers, kettles and extension leads.
Do we have to stop work for the inspection?
No. We test appliances one by one, so normal office work is practically uninterrupted.
What if an appliance fails?
We label it, record it in the report and recommend repair or disposal. Minor repairs can be done on the spot.
How long does an inspection take?
A typical office with 70–90 appliances takes one day. For larger sites we agree a schedule by department.
What do we need to prepare?
Just access to the appliances and, if you have it, the list from the last inspection. Otherwise we set up the register.
Does testing apply to laptops and chargers too?
Yes – laptops, chargers, monitors and extension leads are electrical appliances and belong in the test.
Need an inspection? Get in touch – we send a quote within 24 hours.
